The story…

We originally plan to have the wedding around the last quarter of year 2009, before I turn 30.

Then my parents came into the picture in mid May
Case 1: they hint that its better to get married before next year’s Chinese New Year that is before Jan 26th. That is more than half a year ahead of our plan. Since we have planned to get married no matter how, and it is just the matter of when, so we agreed to move our plan forward because we still would have around 8 months time to prepare.

And then his parents came into picture.
Case 2: A relative say we can’t interfere with another relative’s wedding, so you either put your wedding 4 months before or after theirs. His cousin brother’s wedding is in Oct this year that means our wedding should be either in July 08 or February 09.

Case 3: The Hokkiens don’t are not allowed to marry if their age ends with the numbers 3, 6 and 9, don’t ask me why, I still don’t know the reason. Anyways, he would be 29 (Chinese age) next year, so marrying next year is a no, no. So up till now our only option was, either in July 09 or in the year 2010! For us, 2010 is way too long, and this July is just way too short.

Case 4: That relative said, as long as they were not staying together there will be no interference in luck. So u can go ahead with the dates between that Oct wedding.

Hip-hip hooray! So, we can have our wedding Dec this year. Yeah!

But then,
Case 5: We would have to match our lunar birth dates, not just the bride-to-be and the groom-to-be, but also both our parent’s. Make sure they don’t coincide, interfere with lucks, and make sure it’s on a weekend so friends and relatives could attend.

If December it would be (keeping our fingers cross), then 6 months would be quite enough for preparation.
